Snow!

Yesterday was the first snow of the year, and since I work at an inn at a state park, naturally I felt the need to go outside instead of actually working in my office.

I was giddy all day!

By "giddy" I mean that I was ecstatic!

The inn.  -  My footprints in the snow.  :-)

Clearly I am easily amused, but I'm okay with that.  :-)

Today the snow is gone, but I am not about to let that sadden me.  Winter is quickly approaching!

"Rain Drops On Roses and Whiskers On Kittens"

Okay, so when I started this whole blogging thing I openly admitted that I would be terrible at keeping up with it.  Seeing that my last post was on August 27, I think it's safe to say that my prediction about a totally unreliable blogger was correct.  Oh well.

I've decided that today I want to talk about the things that I am currently loving.  I hope you will bare with me, they are sure to be completely random.

  1. Sweet Home Alabama.  This is in no way a new obsession, it has been my favorite movie for years, but recently my co-workers have discovered just how often I watch it (because I can't keep my big mouth closed).  If you haven't seen it, well....don't tell me unless you want to be forced to watch it.  ;-)  If you have seen it, you know you love it.  There's no shame.  I mean Reese Witherspoon is amazing and Josh Lucas is gorgeous!  You can't go wrong.
  2. Hot tea.  I have always loved ice tea and hot coffee, but lately I can't get enough hot tea.  One of my favorite brands is Bigelow Tea.  You can buy it at pretty much any grocery store - I buy mine at Walmart.  It is inexpensive and totally delicious!  They have tons of flavors too, so I promise that they will have something that you like.

If you really want an amazing tea that it full of natural "healers" and you don't mind spending a bit more, check out TeaPots n Treasures.  They are a company based out of Indianapolis.  They create and blend all of their own teas, and let me tell you, they are amazing!  They have a second website that has includes there other products as well as more information about their teas and such.  Check it out here.
  3. Pinterest.  There really isn't much for me to say about this aside from the face that I am obsessed!  (Thank you Sarah Morton.)

I am literally on Pinterest every single day.  I am on it more than Facebook, and that is really saying something!  If you have never used Pinterest go check it out.  You will LOVE it!  Promise.  While you're there, check out my page, it's full of fun stuff.  :-)
  4. Blogs.  I never seem to find something interesting to write about on my own blog, but I spend time daily reading other peoples blogs.  Here are a few of my favorites.  I think you'll like them.

Writer Will - Will Montgomery -- His writing is kind of amazing.  He writes about everything and he isn't afraid to touch on topics that most people tend to stay away from.  He'll make you think, make you laugh, and make you examine your life.  Also, he has written a really great book called The Polar Bear.  If you like his blog, you will definitely like his book.  I promise.

The Small Things -- Kate writes about all kinds of stuff from recipes to hair and make up to fashion to home decor and organizing.

The Pioneer Woman -- As a country girl, you can only expect that this would be a blog that I love.

Random Thoughts -- Although this blog is written by one of my best friends, and I already know about almost everything that she writes about, I still enjoy reading each post.  That could only mean that her blog is amazing!  P.S. It's her birthday, so you should totally check out her blog and tell her happy birthday!  :-)
  5. Candles.  Plaid Flannels.  The anticipation for Christmas.  --  I grouped these together because I don't have much to write about each one.  So here it is.

I love candles.  I currently have 5 burning in my apartment.  Overkill?  Probably.  Do I care?  Nope.

Who doesn't love plaid flannels?  I mean unless you haven't gotten in touch with your country self, in that case, I think you should.  :-)

I love Christmas!  I love the build up to Christmas, Christmas music, the first snow of the year, candle light church services, time spent with my crazy family, buy gifts for the kids on the angle tree, buy gifts for my family and friends.  I love it all!

Well, I can't figure out how to get my text back to the left side, but oh well. That's all I've got for right now. Maybe I will think up something else worth writing about in the near future. Until then, check out some of the things that I love. I bet you will love them too!

Rambles

I have sat down countless time to begin writing a new post, only to continue sitting there staring at the blank text box.  It isn't that I don't have anything that I could write about, it is just that I don't necessarily find my life interesting.  So, I talked to my friend Sarah, who blogs every single day (I think it is just so she can show me up.) and she said I should just ramble and see where that takes me, so...here it goes.

I am currently studying 2 Peter.  Growing up I was always told the importance of reading my Bible, so I did.  I would read, put it down, pick it up again to read a different chapter.  This was an ongoing cycle throughout my childhood until the point that I was in college.  I have recently given up on that mindset. I have noticed that although I knew all the Bible "stories," there was so much that I didn't know at all (like 2 Peter for example).  I now study the Bible rather than just simply reading it.  It's no longer about how much I can read, but how much can I actually live out.

Now...on to the next thing I can ramble about.

Yeah....I've got nothing else to ramble about.

Study 2 Peter.  You won't regret it.  :-)

Sunday's Random Thoughts

I have a few random thoughts/opinions running through my head, so hear it goes...

Last night I went to the movie theater with a friend, and after reading reviews of every movie that they had we settled on Crazy Stupid Love.  Now, I have heard several comments about the vulgarity of this movie, but I figured that it was rated PG 13, how bad could it actually be?  Um...apparently really bad.  I was under the impression that movie ratings were supposed to be used to let people know what age the movie is appropriate for.

Here is a clue Hollywood: IF I, A 22 YEAR-OLD AM UNCOMFORTABLE DURING YOUR MOVIE, CHANCES ARE THAT IT ISN'T APPROPRIATE FOR A 13 YEAR-OLD!

The thing is, the movie was actually pretty decent (I am a sucker for people turning their lives around.) and if I based my opinion on the story line itself, it could be great, so I have to ask myself, "what was the point in all of the language, sex, and lack of class?"

All I'm say is, we need better choices.  We should be able to go see a romantic comedy without having to sit through 2 hours of trash to get to the happy ending.  (and yes, I know that I could have just gotten up and left, and I probably should have, but I didn't.  Lessons learned I suppose.)

Ok, I am down ranting.  I will end with a few random thoughts.

* Harry & David's Moose Munch Coffee is simply incredible.  If you like coffee, order this.  It's worth it, I promise!  www.harryanddavid.com

* I love music, and lately I am addicted to Anthem Lights!  Their music is incredible, and the lyrics are very moving. I love how they sing about struggles that most people don't like to talk about.  We like to pretend that being a Christian makes your world full of sparkles and butterflies, but that is the furthest thing from the truth.  Life is still so very hard, but thankfully we have God to give us the strength we need to get through it.  (My favorite song is "Freedom into Slavery" it's awesome, I promise.)  www.anthemlights.com

* Leggings are not pants.  That bathing suit that is 2 sizes too small and wouldn't cover enough of you even if actually fit is not attractive.  Boys...you are not at the beach, the pool, on a boat, or in your own home, so put a shirt on.

Have an amazing Sunday!

....I suppose I'll call this "The Introduction"

I'm not really sure why I am starting a blog.  When I read other people's blog entries they seem to have some wonderful insight to share with the public, or some great cause that they want to voice their opinions on.  I am going to tell you right now, if that's what you are looking for, then you have come to the wrong place because I have neither.

I am terrible at journaling, and when I was younger, I was even worse at keeping I diary.  Looking back on it, I guess I never really saw the point.  I mean, why write down all of these intimate and personal details, thoughts, ideas, dreams, etc. if you never have any intention in sharing them with anyone.  I suppose I always figured that I have a brain that is fully capable of holding all of those thoughts, so I really didn't need a sparkly purple book that I was always forgetting to lock to hold them.

So I am sure that you are now asking yourself  what the point of this blog is....well, I can honestly tell you that I'm not really sure myself.  All I can tell you is that life is a journey, and this is going to be my record of that journey.

It's pretty simple.  I am a 22 year-old college graduate stuck in small town Indiana, and I am looking for a way out.  I want more from my life than what I am getting now, so I am starting a new chapter, and I hope you'll come along for the ride!
